Survey about Self-Hosting by University of Bamberg

Hello there! I am Tim König. I am conducting a survey to see people's perspectives and experiences regarding self-hosting, especially with regards to Docker. This survey contains a little over 15 questions. I will answer the answers in my Master's Thesis at University of Bamberg, Germany. Thank you very much for your support!

Data Protection Information and Consent

1. Purpose: With this survey, we study self-hosting habits for academic research at the PSI Chair, University of Bamberg. No automated decision-making (Art. 22 GDPR).

2. Data we collect: Your answers stay in your browser until you press "Submit" at the end of the survey. Please do not enter identifying information. We keep raw data only until an initial check, then anonymise and archive for 10 years (in line with DFG good-practice rules). Server logs (IP, time, user-agent, headers) are kept 7 days for IT security.

3. Legal basis: Survey – your consent, Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR, plus our public-research mandate (Art. 4 (1) BayDSG, Art. 2 BayHIG). Logs – IT security of our servers is a public interest, Art. 6 (1)(e) GDPR, Art. 11 BayEGovG.

4. Recipients: Project team only. No transfers outside the EU. Publications use only aggregated or anonymised quotes. Server operated in Germany by our processor Hetzner AG, subject to our data processing agreement with them (Art. 28 GDPR).

5. Your rights: Access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection (Arts. 15–21 GDPR). Withdraw any time – just close the tab or email dh.psi@uni-bamberg.de without having to give a reason. Withdrawals do not affect the legality of processing before withdrawal. You can also lodge a complaint with the Bavarian Data Protection Commissioner (contact details in the privacy policy).

6. Voluntary participation: Participation is voluntary; no disadvantages if you decline or leave early.
